Setting up a Logi DFGT in rF
I'm getting a new box up and running, and want to join in at least for the AE86 fun after several years away from simming.
Anyway, I picked up a Driving Force GT, but am struggling to get it set-up within rF. iRacing wasn't a problem, but I think rF still thinks it is a 270-deg wheel? Seems like it's not responding 1:1 to my inputs.
Thanks!

Is that you Mr. Ellis? I just got a G25 recently and it set up fine in fFactor. Just tweaking the FFB to my liking takes awhile. Not sure about the DFGT. Most of the vehicles in the mods have a 900 degree option in the upgrades. Make sure you check that as well. Hope to see you out there on the track.

Check these two values in your controller.ini: Speed Sensitive Steering="0.00000" Steering Wheel Range="900"
You problem is most likely that first setting. The second setting has no effect on how the car drives. I just fixes the cockpit steering wheel animation so it matches your wheel. I have a G25 so most of my settings will work on your wheel too. Later today I will gather up all my settings related to the AE86 mod and post them here.
It's great to see you lurking still. Glade to here your going to join us for some races.
It looks like we are going to have a great season. Now if we can get the Sisk brothers to come back.

Yep, John, it's me!
Thanks for the pointers, guys. Figured it would be something fairly basic to solve.

Hmmm...finally found where controller.ini was lurking in Vista, made the adjustments, and it didn't get the feeling where I think it should be. Am I missing something? Takes way too much steering input relative to LFS or iRacing.

Are you using the RealFeel plugin? If not, it is a must. AE86 and HistorX probably have the best FFB of all sims (including iRacing and LFS) when RealFeel is installed.
Once you have RealFeel installed, set the FFB in rFactor to -100 and then set this in your controller.ini:
Code:
FFB steer force output max="0.00000"
That completely disables the built in FFB. Even more so then setting FFB level to low in the game.
Then open your RealFeelPlugin.ini (located in the root rFactor folder) and set it like this:
That should give you a nice light and informative wheel more like iRacing. It will lightly align the wheels into slides so you can feel just how much to counter steer when sliding. Like a real car. It feels much better then iRacing IMO.

I left Historix as-installed, with RealFeel. However, I led you down the wrong path. I meant the steering response still feels off. It takes almost all the lock to idle around corners. Could there be something still overriding the change to 900* I made in controller.ini?

The change to 900 in the controller only effects the the graphical wheel that you see in the cockpit. It has no effect on how the car drives though. Check the sensitivities in rFactor and make sure they are all set to 50% which is linear. Also make sure you don't have any aids turned on. I have hit the hotkey to turn on steering help before without noticing and spent 15mins thinking I lost my mind. I unmapped all the hotkeys for aids so I don't turn them on by accident. Also, go into the controller settings in rFactor and turn the wheel to lock and make sure the little bar in goes to max. If not, try remapping the steering to see if it fixes it.
I can't think of anything else right now. Maybe you could post your controller.ini and .PLR file for me to look at.

Re: Setting up a Logi DFGT in rF
Sensitivities are all @ 50%.
I forgot to plug in the power before firing up rF to test, so I plugged it in without restarting to see how it'd respond. The wheel started in 270* mode, and the steering was more responsive in an AE86 to the point of being too twitchy.
So, any chance the Logitech profiler software could be fighting with rF with Logi thinking it's a 900* wheel and rF thinking it should be seeing a 270* wheel?

If you get full range in the controller screen in rFactor then all is fine. That is the place to look. 900 takes some getting used to. HistorX by default assumes you have a 900 wheel and locks the steering lock in the car setup accordingly. Although there is an upgrade in on the upgrades tab that overrides the steering lock so you can change it raise. I think most people do this although it isn't what the modders intended and doesn't match the ratio of the real cars. In the AE86 mod you can raise the lock in the car setup. I run 900 and 24 in the car setup. I hate unrealistically tight steering so I keep the lock in the setup low.
Here is a replay of me in the Cortina. What you see here matches what I am doing on the real wheel. Tell me if you are having to rotate this much.
